Finished the Teens training material yesterday and today I got a 10-year old.

I don't want to teach children. I have made a point not to finish any training material for teaching children. The main reason I teach online is so that I can opt out of teaching children.
I got assigned Teens material. Teens are generally fine. I don't mind teens, and I could use some extra classes. I finished yesterday and today I have a "TEENs" class, but the student is 10 years old, the material is ABC Junior, and there is a Jr badge once I click on the lesson.
Does having a Teens badge mean that I will be getting assigned children? Do I need to ask to have this badge removed, or is there a way to opt out of teaching anyone younger than teenaged?

@Daniel-468 I would say the chances are high now that you will have children - you would have to remove the tag.

Hi :) As far as I know teens are jr............

@Sophia-M I was placed on last-minute standby at 19:30 this evening after my regular adult student canceled. I was then assigned an emergency class: a “Teens-45” Level 4 (ages 10–12, 2nd class with TABC). I haven’t completed the training for this type of class and haven’t taught a JR session in many months. Why would the AI assign me to that class? It was very frustrating!

@Daniel-468 I suppose it’s a matter of high demand and not enough Junior teachers. I’ve never completed any training for juniors or teens. Last month I was assigned 16 Hong Kong classes with teenagers – they were all 13+ years old, so that was fine. This month, I have some more Hong Kong classes scheduled, even though I haven’t completed any training and don’t have a badge for either juniors or teens.

@Wayne-1The ones I've had so far are just the same old Reg 25 / 45 materials, with an extra page added for exam prep at the back. Some just changed the colors and cover. Maybe others are better? What's your experience so far?
-
@Wayne-1 😯as far as I know standby teachers are meant to be able to teach every type of class.
-
Demo teachers are given the option to choose either to teach junior demos or adult demos, and sometimes - as was in my case, someone higher up decides that you're teaching one or the other! I don't understand why teachers aren't given that choice as some of us are better suited/prefer to teach only juniors, and same goes with those teachers who prefer to teach only adults. Imagine if I taught mostly adult classes and I were a standby teacher and had to teach a KIDS class on Storytelling! 😱

@Stewart-5 I’ve never taught one before. In fact, I haven’t taught a junior class since maybe April or May.

@Mina-0 @Sophia-M The last couple of months I’ve been receiving less than five standby hours each month. If it happens again, I suppose I’m going to have to remove myself from standby. In 2023 and 2024 I used to get maybe 30 to 40 a month and most of those I never taught, but now all of my open slots are filled with regulars.
