Announcement: Cancelation Policy Update July 2023
-
Dear teachers,
As summer vacation is approaching, we feel the need to keep every teacher posted on the current cancellation policy when it comes to a student picking his/her favourite teacher for the month.
There have been various updates to how the system works since we first launched this service 2 years ago.
The following situations will affect whether or not the system recommends a teacher to a student whenever a student requests one:
If a cancellation takes place within 48 hours to a scheduled student.
If there has been any cancellation in the past 14 days.*Due to optimised computing capacity, it’s sometimes possible that the teacher might be completely hidden to certain students.
The following situations will NOT affect whether or not the system recommends a teacher to a student:
If a cancellation is submitted 48 hours or more ahead to a scheduled student.
If the cancellation has taken place more than 14 days in the past (the system only counts 14 days' worth of cancellations).
If a cancellation is for an unscheduled time slot.E.g. If, in the last 14 days, you had 100 scheduled students and you cancelled 6 of them in one day, you might be hidden for the next 14 days from students. (If you don’t cancel more classes of course.)
As this service is still relatively new and considered a work-in-progress, we’re constantly revisiting the balance between the flexibility of teachers’ schedules and students’ satisfaction with the service.
Should you need further information or assistance on this matter, feel free to contact one of our TPRs in the Teacher Community.

@Marko-Ilic Thanks for the information.
If we untick a manually added slot that is unassigned, is that considered a cancellation or not? Please advise 🤔
-
@Cherry No, it is not considered a cancelation, you can untick all you want.
-
@Marko-Ilic Thx for confirming 👍

being 'hidden' from the student - here refers only to those instances when a consultant had cancelations, and therefore is 'penalised'; ie not available to (all) students for bookings?
or
Being 'hidden' can happen any time due to 'optimised computing capacity', ie how the system operates?thank you

As you said here, it is cancelation related only.
-
So, 14 days after the last cancellation I should be fine, and students can find me?
-
@Nikola-4 If you don't continue to make more cancelations, yes.

Does this refer to all cancellations (scheduled or not) or only when canceling scheduled ones?
Or any cancellations of a scheduled student within 48 hours in the last 14 days?I know further down it states canceling unscheduled slots won't have an effect but just wanted to confirm this for regular students.

Only this affects future scheduling.
-
@Marko-Ilic Perfect, thank you👍
-
So I can't have any time off without penalty :/
-
@Marko-Ilic So if you have a regular student who has booked several lessons through the month & you cancel a session with that student, will the later bookings with that student still remain or be removed?
-
@Cherry I would also want to know when it goes into effect.
If I have a student who is booked as far as 3 weeks from now, and I cancel that day, does this policy go into effect immediately or does it go into effect on the date of the cancellation?
-
@Marko-Ilic So, if we take a vacation we are basically being punished for it? :D
-
Oh wait, if I cancel a few sessions waaaaaay ahead of time... then I'm ok?
-
@Alistair Not sure I understand, please elaborate.
-
@Eva-G Yes, thank you. Only canceling between 1 and 48 hours will affect your future scheduling.
-
@Marko-Ilic Got it! :D Sorry, didn't see the previous comments... but thanks for the confirmation. 🤗🙌

blurble blurblefef. Ok. Guess I am understanding it all a bit more now. Thanks. I still wish there was some protection for emergency situations, especially if the teacher shows no pattern of it.
