Got switched from a class that got assigned with 1hr 16 min notice

  • ...and the day after I posted asking how to get assigned more classes.

So what is the strategy for avoiding this situation? I leave my schedule open all day to maximize the chances that I get classes because I'm otherwise not getting any. I check my schedule then lay down for a nap. When I wake up, I have missed a class.

I have trouble imagining that people are consistently checking their schedules every hour. I have trouble imagining that people are only opening their schedules during slots they want to work, at least if they are new like me and not consistently having those slots filled. What are you all doing to avoid this situation?

Be nice please. I don't know how well I can handle condescending comments right now.

  • @Daniel-468 I only open slots during the time I want to work. I have a very fixed routine and schedule and usually booked those times.

  • I do check my schedule every hour and set an alarm because at times there can be many last minute bookings (and at times there aren't). However, if you are on a very low booking rate it can be very demoralizing and crazy making and my sympathies are with you. We are all scheduled differently due to so many factors including qualifications, followers, ratings, training packages, absences, etc. From my experience I have stuck with it and managed to make a living for the last 6 years. I have been ridiculously patient and as consistent as possible. It's not always easy or great for your self esteem waiting for bookings, but many of us here have made it work.

This is my fear, as well.

What I would recommend to you would be to open the slots that are dark blue (busiest times) and not schedule the light blue ones. I, too, like to nap. For me, living in Thailand, afternoons are the "slow" time and mornings and evenings are the busy times.

Or don't open 2 hours worth of slots do you can take a nap. On the weekends, I open up the slots from 7:30am - 8:30 pm. I usually don't open the afternoon hours from 3:00-6:00 so I can nap then.

  • Here's what I do... I am NEVER more than about 30 minutes away from my studio during booked hours. Not yellow...I mean, booked. I don't trust Tutor Teach or Telegram to keep me up to date. So if I have an hour of greens, I'll wait until 5 minutes into an 18:00 to 19:00 spread and go to the store. Or a short trip to work out.
If you have a laptop that you can connect to TABC somewhere, that is much more reliable. If I have some consecutive greens, I'll take my netbook to my gym that has wifi. Logging in and periodically checking the screen is the most reliable.
