Announcement: Cancelation Policy Update July 2023

@Robert-296 They have decided to change and revamp that policy after you raised the issues. But it is still a work in progress, and maybe it is better to have a 30-day rolling cycle, in my opinion.

Ah, ok, so this change happened after that email. He hasn't responded to me since then, so I didn't know.
Why do you think 30 days might be better?
-
@Robert-296 I'll tell you after the meeting I'll have with Michael on Monday. I don't want to cause any panic, but I will test it on myself. I will be away from July 16th to 29th, and I canceled a few scheduled sessions during that period. If I have 5 canceled classes in that period, and 0 done classes, that means that my % would be 100% classes canceled in the 14-day period, which sounds a little bit scary, doesn't it? What do you think?

Well, we'll see then, but I'd think that canceling 14 days in advance should not incur any penalty. [At least, according to what we've all been discussing here.]

My schedule after seeing a regular 8-er or any other low rater.
Tell me about it. I've had low serial raters for months, and still they were assigned to me for months as well. you can imagine!
-
Yeah, true, I will follow up and ask every day for my cancelation rate, and as we spoke here, it should be 0. Anyway, knowing beats not knowing at any time.

Very true. If we all know the rules, we can try to abide by them, at least.
It's the unseen, unpublished, and unknown parameters that cause all of the grievances.

@Katarina-1 Yes, I noticed a dip this week after I took last weekend off. I canceled those sessions a week and a half before they happened...less than 14 days. That is why I am confused. The email is not clear.
-
@Kristine-32 I think it's because this just came into effect. I think the system will still punish people based on the mysterious old rules if they made any cancellations before this week. These people just have to wait until the old consequences wear off and then any future cancellations will operate under these new rules.
-
@Royce-0 That could be, but the email was confusing.
-
@Robert-296 @Marko-Ilic From what's been said on this thread so far, I'm under the impression that we need to cancel scheduled classes AT LEAST 72 hrs in advance to avoid penalty. The 14 days only refers to the time period cycles that the system assesses the # of our cancellations. 14 days does NOT refer to the number of days required to cancel without penalty. Do I have this correct?
-
Let me try to clarify as much as possible, based on what Marko shared.
Any cancelation of scheduled (yellow dots) classes within 48 hours of the starting time for those classes, will have an effect for a period of 14 days.
Any cancelation outside of that 48 hours period, won't have any effect.(correct me if I'm wrong Marko)
-
@Filipe No correction is needed. Thank you!
-
Ok so after no cancellations for 6 months on July 28th I am going to Bali. I want to cancel the first 3-4 days of the holiday flight settle in etc, and then a second cancellation 2 weeks later for a week. I intend to work for a week so I have some money haha. How would I cancel this and when for minumum impact.
-
@Alistair Anytime, just not in the 48 hours range.
-
@Marko-Ilic okie so quite simple. Thanks for replying!

Hello Everyone. I am a new teacher and maybe this space is not the most appropriate to ask a question, BUT could anyone advise please, when should I click the 'start session' button to start the class? I clicked in today 2 minutes prior my first class and it was saying 'the link has expired' and now I have got an absence. Please, help guys! Also, another question about the upcoming classes...I don't have any classes shown now as upcoming for today, do I still need to stay logged in into the system or it's just the waste of time? Many thanks for your help.

This makes the period of time a bit clearer in which it is OK to cancel.
However, I still can't grok the reason why the system feels it's more important to 'punish' the teacher for a cancellation than it is to satisfy a customer who wants that particular teacher. It just doesn't make any sense to me from a customer perspective.
I have suggested that customer service reps be given the authority to override the system's 'banning' of a teacher if the customer calls and specifically requests the provider. If the customer goes to that length to make the request, I see no reason not to honor it. My suggestion has received no response.
Additionally, there is no indication here on what's being done to manage the customer service agents and what they are saying to the customers regarding the teachers' unavailability. Telling students or parents that the teacher is not available requires a reason, and they have had numerous explanations like 'teacher is punished', 'teacher is on vacation', or 'teacher took time off'. When none of these reasons are true, what will the students and parents be told, if they call and specifically request the teacher?
Please remember that the reason offered reflects on the teacher's character and record, so this is important to us.
It's mind-boggling.

@Daria-20 I always enter the session 7-5-minutes before it begins. It will give you absences if you sign in 2-minutes before the class. Just enter early, leave your camera and mic off until you are ready to begin. It's not worth the risk of playing it too close to the start time. Welcome!
-
@Daria-20 Classes can schedule up to an hour before they start. So if your last green dot ( unscheduled, but booked, class) of the day is at 12:30pm, don't leave your house until you have checked the session page at 11:31pm to see if they haven't scheduled you anything for the 12:30pm slot.
